Vent Room! If you don't like me, why fake it.

This is nothing new in life. We all been somewhere and you had to meet people. You go around introducing yourself and you get that person with a grin like they're constipated. You really don't know the person so you give them the benefit of the doubt. So as the evening continues, the person does small talk or just stares at you as if something was hanging off your face. Then, you literally start to avoid the person. What makes it worse is maybe it's your boyfriend's friend girlfriend or family member. You have to act fake for the rest of the night until you breath a sigh of relief in the car.

Actually, I'm not venting because we all do this everyday. At work, at play and in society. I remembered the first time I experience this was in grade school. There was a girl who always brought candy to lunch. Man, I truly wanted some candy. I smiled and played the friend role. I knew she didn't care about me and I her. However, the main focus was getting some candy. We perform, but miss out on truly getting to know or accept the person for who he or she is. Being fake stops people from truly discovering others outside of yourself.

As I got older, I learned just to be myself and if someone doesn't like me; it is what it is. Why continue to like someone you can't stand? I remembered listening to the radio station as a child and they would end the show every Sunday with this phase: If you can't say anything good, don't say nothing at all. Wow! Awesome words to live by. You may or may not agree with everyone's thoughts, actions or opinions, but just respect the person. If you truly don't care for them, just avoid them.

We all have one life to live. We are not here to please everyone that walks on this earth. I had people not like me because I'm nice. I had to laugh at that because I never thought being nice was bad. Well. I guess it is in some people eyes. Don't be fake and be who you are. Now, if you have to just smile and remain quiet do so. If you are like me, I would think about football season or what I would be cooking the next day. That puts a smile on my face every time and if you're smiling it's not fake.
