Not everyone has heard of Peter Pan. Here's a quick synopsis of the well-known character. He's from a place called Never land. It's an island where you never grow old and you can stay young forever. I remembered watching the movie as a child in addition to riding the ride when my parents would take my sister and I to the Disney Parks. It amazed me how he was trying to help the 3 kids in experiencing a wild adventure. The only thing that was different was that I had to grow up. Time took my youth away and now I'm an adult.
As adults, it's a nonstop pattern. Working, not working, bills, raising kids and the list can go on and on. Some of us are hard on ourselves and we forget to stay young. Some act like they have never had a childhood; while others are still stuck in it. There's a balance to it. We have no choice in becoming an adult, but we should allow ourselves to stay young at heart. We all are aging by the second, however, we should enjoy each second as it comes. I remembered when my dad took us to Disneyland and he would never ride anything except the Pirates of the Caribbean ride. Once we got on the ride, he sat in the boat and we gently went with the current. As we traveled and looked at the attraction, I started to hear something. I heard water falling. At that moment, we found out what the difference was with the ride at Disneyland and Disney World. Now, my father at that time was over 300 pounds and 6'3". This large man was scared to death because he wasn't expecting this. He tried to push himself away, but with no success. He gripped the bar so hard that I thought it was going to break. However, once we went down the hill. He started to laugh. When we came back the next day, he got back on the ride and even put his arms in the air.
Life is hard. It's a challenge to stay focus, but know that we only have one life to live. Allow yourself to laugh and enjoy it sometimes. Nothing is wrong with doing something that puts a smile on your face. Sing a song you like in the car or shower. I still enjoy playing video games and going on amusement rides if I prepare myself. If you didn't like any of my suggestions, take a moment and think back to what made you happy. Shoot, If a nap makes you happy, go for it. Naps makes me happy. I don't understand why kids hate them because adults enjoy them!
Never Land is possible. Always take a moment to enjoy something that brings you back to your childhood or create a new memory. As long as you have breath in your body, it's possible. Make a mix CD or tape of all your favorite songs and go to town! Go fishing or walk in a field that looks safe enough to walk in. Do what makes Never Land available to you always.
